At the Redlands Forum on
Thursday, October 26, we explored the work of the University of Southern
California (USC) Spatial Sciences Institute's Urban Trees Initiative to analyze
the existing tree canopy in six low-income Los Angeles neighborhoods. Dr. John
P. Wilson discussed how GIS data and services identify the areas that benefit
most from planting trees, as well as the science behind trees that mitigate air
pollution.
