Discover the new electric vehicle (EV) lifestyle that is available with Electrify America’s network of over 3500 ultra-fast chargers. As Electrify America adds charging dispensers across North America each year, GIS plays a significant role in the art of site selection and delivering an optimized and unique charging experience that models geographic science, re-imagines customer expectations and delivers increasing economic value.
Electrify America is spending $2 billion on electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and education with the goal to give people the confidence to adopt the EV lifestyle and actively contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. With over 800 chargers in the United States, Electrify America has the largest open, ultra-fast charging network in the country and is continually reviewing locations for further growth.
Electrify America then considers economic, social and environmental factors in the area to find the best location to install a charging station. Using ArcGIS Business Analyst, they perform suitability analysis to identify target locations.
A custom automated report generated through ArcGIS Notebooks can save time and create efficiencies in evaluating the more than 150 locations submitted for consideration each day.
Dashboards communicate to everyone in the organization a view of all the potential locations being submitted, financial impact and surrounding amenities – to help Electrify America executives make decisions on where to place new charging stations.
Their custom Site Selection Explorer application allows the team to run what if scenarios to see if there might be an alternative location in the area based on the analysis for strategy, financial, and real estate.
To help instill range confidence in consumers, Electrify America prefers to put their electric chargers approximately 50 miles apart along highways. Using spatial analysis in ArcGIS Pro, Electrify America can combine several factors to locate sites where chargers could be placed.
Building out their electric vehicle charging network takes collaboration with power providers, so Electrify America can make more informed decisions based on available electric infrastructure and capacity.
The Electrify America network is backed by 100% renewable energy.
