Our project focuses on the effects of climate change on agriculture and innovating change of agricultural practices. The main topics concentrate on a self-sustaining community and include renewable energy, soil health, and sustainable agriculture. This unique interdisciplinary effort brings two landscape architecture studios and a geodesign class together. We utilize ArcGIS Online and GeoPlanner for ArcGIS in all stages of the project and use parametric modeling with Rhino and Grasshopper. The main goal is to develop visions for future sustainable development in Grinnell, Iowa. Grinnell is a small college town surrounded by agricultural land. Collaboration with community members and officials enabled us to use the public's valuable feedback to modify and shape our designs to move towards beneficial change, particularly concentrating on public values, agricultural efficiency, and sustainability efforts.
