By the year 2050, farmers will be expected to feed a world population of nine to 10 billion people. To meet this challenge, comprehensive precision agriculture innovations are needed to produce more food at a greater efficiency. This transformation in farming will require a cultural shift in a research approach from individual scientist’s data being siloed to an ecosystem of data sharing among the research community. To engage scientists and stakeholders, the U.S. Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) developed the Agricultural Collaborative Research Outcomes System (AgCROS) as the next generation collaborative platform to share data across the agricultural community. Using an ArcGIS Hub, AgCROS is designed to engage government employees, scientists, farmers, and citizens. AgCROS is a component in the agricultural data ecosystem that will drive sustainable future precision agriculture innovation and technology.
