This video’s ArcGIS Pro UI is based on Version 2.8.2.
The latest 2.9 and later release’s UI may look slightly different.
This video guides how to review floorplan CADs and correctly populate the CAD configuration excel spreadsheet for best indoor data extraction. It is critical to find the proper CAD layers that are to be extracted to create facility footprint, floor levels, unit spaces, and architectural line details.
Not all CAD layers can be extracted flawlessly to fit into the indoors data model.
1. Highly recommend reviewing and selecting the best indoors CAD layers that match ArcGIS Indoor's data schema.
2. Highly recommend spending some time reviewing and enhancing the features' geometry and attribute values after the CAD extraction process.
Tips on reviewing floorplan CADs;
1. You can create multiple configuration files and run the GP tool if the floorplan CAD layers' names are different from floor to floor.
2. Additive Hierarchical ID systems across Site – Facilities – Levels – Units feature classes are strongly recommended.
3. The ID system you have assigned for each unit space will impact the associated Point of Interest, Event, and People feature classes; ID is the unique locator and the identifier across the indoor database.
4. Know the height value of each floor and its measure units.
