Learn how the Range Slider in ArcGIS Pro can help you interactively filter the content being displayed in your maps and scenes.
A lot of GIS content can be overwhelming to look at. Sometimes you need to filter what is being displayed to help you comprehend and analyze patterns within the data, or better focus on a subset of your features. The range slider is an interactive filtering control that helps with this. A range can be defined for any numeric field in a layer, and then the on-screen range slider allows you to quickly change which range of values should be shown. For example, you can show only features on the third floor of a building, or only the earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 4.0, or only house properties that are worth between $200,000 and $300,000.
In our example, we’ll be using the range slider to interactively filter interior building rooms based on different numeric fields, such as the floor number, the maximum occupancy, and room area.
In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Enable a numeric range filter for a layer
• Use the range slider to interactively thin out the features being displayed
• Set the current display range for multiple layers
• Use the range slider in a single-value mode
• Define a display alias field for your range values
• Work with multiple ranges in the same map
• Use the range slider with other filters, such as the time slider
