“Elephants can be classified into about three categories here in the Mara,” Wall said. “So, you've got elephants that never crop raid – which is kind of surprising actually – so we call them the teetotalers, and then you've got social raiders, elephants that raid from time to time, and then we have our “cropaholics,” the elephants that are just constantly going crop raiding.”
