Subsea inspection surveys are commonly required to validate hydrographic surveys and provide visualization of the seafloor. These surveys collect large volumes of ROV video, making post-survey data assessments time consuming and cumbersome. ESRI's Full Motion Video (FMV) toolset in a robust GIS environment allows us to integrate, evaluate, and manage subsea video in an organized fashion. To improve the workflow and utilize large volumes of ROV video, a detailed procedure including scripted manipulation of navigation, attitude, and ROV camera parameters is fit to a customized batch geoprocessing model and the FMV Multiplexer. Geospatial bookmarks identify seabed features, subsea assets, and bottom type to provide quick access to important features in the project area. FMV's georeferencing and 4-corner registration of ROV video allows both direct overlay of additional hydrographic data and playback tracking of the ROV along the survey route to confirm the condition of subsea assets, document seabed characteristics, and perform quality assurance measures on the hydrographic survey data. The FMV toolset dramatically improves assessment of undersea infrastructure and environment.
