The University of California System coordinates GIS activities across institutions, sharing expertise and data. When the Kincade fire threatened several institutions, the UC GIS community was able to respond quickly because relationships and technologies to facilitate collaboration were already in place. University of California San Francisco GIS Manager Mono Simeone describes how the UC GIS Leadership Committee was formed to support GIS users across the system. He also demonstrates how the UC GIS for Emergency Management Workgroup collaborates to create authoritative data and a common operating picture that inform decision making during emergencies.
