In some GIS courses, remote sensing and imagery can be an afterthought. By the time ‘Week 8: Imagery’ rolls around, vector data, tools, and processes have already monopolized much of the coursework. The reality is that the volume of available imagery data is increasing, and these datasets are valuable as inputs to GIS. For this month’s Higher Ed Chat, we will be highlighting apps, tools, and tutorials that you can include in your courses to ensure that imagery and remote sensing is tightly integrated. From easy-to-use apps that let students explore Landsat data, to lessons on spatial resolution and those that showing the integration of GIS layers with imagery. These are designed to be easily integrated into your GIS courses.
