EPA health studies have shown a significant association between exposure to ambient air pollution and health risks. Health effects may include cardiovascular and respiratory effects. Although there are many toxins that have adverse impacts on health, pollutants, the strongest evidence for public health concern include particulate matter (PM), ozone (O3), and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Long-term (2005-2018) high-resolution (12km x 12km) air quality products relevant for societal applications, were created at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) at the daily scale for the continental US. This volume of information can be challenging to work with for Public Health professionals. Using Esri's Dashboards, we created an air quality dashboard that maps and communicates the historical modeled air quality data aggregated at the state and county level for each year. Maps of air quality variables can be visualized along with statistics about air quality exceedances for the selected county. Workflows to process the netCDF model output to different spatial and temporal resolutions will be discussed, as well as considerations taken while developing the dashboard.
