This lesson explains how to use the Line of Sight Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly determine visibility between two locations using ArcGIS Pro.
Interactive line of sight is used to determine if one or more targets are visible from a given observer's viewpoint in a 3D scene. For example, you might want to position a public official to observe a parade route or a commentator to watch a sporting race.
In our example, we’ll be determining visibility between an observer and target locations. The line of sight will show green for visible, magenta if there is an obstruction, and gray for anything that is outside of the minimum or maximum view distance.
In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place an observer and one or more target locations
• Reposition both observer and target locations on the fly
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
• Update an existing line of sight with new properties
