When a loved one is not breathing, entangled in a car accident, or trapped in a fire, each second counts. Unfortunately, unless an emergency happens in front of the first responders, it can take several minutes to get to the emergency scene. It is up to the Company Officer to make life-saving decisions in the first few crucial minutes of an emergency. And, it is the Fire Department Leadership responsibility to provide the systems which allow the Company Officers and firefighters to be successful at saving lives. For the Orland Fire Protection District, GIS has become an integral part of creating and maintaining those systems. Lieutenant Steve Rivero will share the Orland Fire Protection District and GIS systems that make every life-saving second count.
