This lesson explains how to use the Slice Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly suppress part of a scene’s display to reveal hidden content in ArcGIS Pro.
Interactive slice is used to reveal layers that are not typically visible within a 3D space. For example, you might need to track underground stormwater pipes by peeling away the roads and sidewalks or the electrical wiring within a building by temporarily culling away the roof, walls, or floors that are in the way.
In this example, we’ll be using a horizontal plane to slice a building plan floor by floor.
In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place a square horizontal plane
• Move, resize, and rotate a slice plane using its interactive handles
• Usie the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
• Change the plane cull direction
• Configure which layers are affected by the slice plane
After watching this lesson, you might be interested in other lessons in the series that cover other Exploratory Analysis tools in more detail.
