NY Metro GIS User Group Meeting - April 27 2021
Esri and users from the NY Metro GIS Community connected and listened to the following presentations:
Zarith Pineda, founder and executive director of Territorial Empathy, will discuss how her NYC-based organization combined GIS data, compelling media, and impactful storytelling to inform the public of inequities in lived experiences. This spurred action that resulted in citywide policy changes.
Bilge Kose, Landmarks Preservationist of the Landmarks Preservation Commission, will discuss LPC’s latest story map, Preserving Significant Places of Black History, that share the landmarks and historic districts illustrating the experiences and achievements of African Americans throughout NYC history. The discussion will focus on creating an interactive and highly visual story map, which is intended to share with the public the stories of New Yorkers through designated landmarks and historic districts.
Piyali Kundu, Esri senior solution engineer, will talk about Esri's racial equity and social justice program.
