The school Abigail Gonzalez attended, in the Boyle Heights community of Los Angeles, does a "Service Learning Project" in 11th grade. This intense look at a social justice topic, using geographic information systems (GIS), has helped Abby map out her future.
The SLP was publicized for a wide audience at Esri's 2018 User Conference, as part of the "Making a Difference" award ceremony, in which Esri President Jack Dangermond gave the award to lead teachers Mariana Ramirez and Alice Im.
