"The University of Texas and ESRI have teamed up to create a web-based app to provide during-the-event flooding data to first responders. The goal is for first responders to have all available flooding information at their fingertips, in real-time, so they can structure their response based on the most accurate information.
The result is the Pin2Flood app - which allows first responders to directly map the floodwaters they are facing by dropping a pin, from their mobile device at the water’s edge. In addition, the data is accessible to field personnel, Incident commanders, other responding units, and the Emergency Operations Center. This allows for quicker and more accurate information dissemination during an event where seconds count!
This presentation will cover the reason why first responders need it, the evolution of the app, testing, current and future partners, and next steps. "
