This lesson explains how to use the View Dome Exploratory Analysis tool to quickly visualize which nearby surface areas have a direct view of the central location point using ArcGIS Pro. In this example, we’ll be determining the impact of city buildings upon the inhabitants and their ability to view the sky. Areas that will not be visible from the observer location will be colored magenta.
Interactive view domes are used to determine the visible volumetric spaces within a direct 3D distance of a location.
In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively place a view dome observer
• Resize a view dome using its interactive handles
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
After watching this lesson, you might be interested in other lessons in the series that cover other Exploratory Analysis tools in more detail.
