Transit-oriented development (TOD), the development of compacted, mixed-use centers near high-quality transit, is increasingly considered a promising method to help communities grow more vibrant, livable, and sustainable communities. However, few planning efforts have examined the urban form changes based on transit frequencies. This study explores the urban allocation scenarios in San Francisco where the city's urban form will be generated based on transit frequencies, service types, and land use typologies. We also create a TOD CityEngine rule which allows planners and engineers to examine the urban allocation results on the fly based on changes in planned transit service and land use typologies. This open-source rule can be used by any individuals who are seeking a toolbox to link TOD development with urban allocation. This paper aims to combine procedural design and geospatial modeling to provide a rapid response tool for exploring potential development scenarios that can be developed by connecting transit service directly to the codification of urban form.
