This lesson explains how to use the Cut and Fill Exploratory Analysis tool to estimate the volume of soil involved flattening plot of land in ArcGIS Pro.
Interactive cut and fill performs an analysis using your chosen elevation surface allowing you to measure areas and volume of material that you want to cut and/or fill. For example, measuring the fill volume of potential reservoirs or calculating the cut volume of dirt and debris removal.
In this example, we’ll be using the Interactive Polygon creation method to create an interactive cut and fill object and determine the optimal flattening elevation to minimize the net volume.
In this short video, you will learn how to:
• Interactively create a cut and fill polygon
• Read the interactive feedback and measurements
• Move and rotate a cut and fill object using its interactive handles
• Use the C key to quickly navigate without changing active tools
