Mobile GIS can harness students’ enthusiasm for smartphones to foster spatial literacy and critical thinking. This presentation aims to help educators guide students in using their phones to collect, visualize, and analyze spatial data. The presenter will introduce his upcoming book "Getting to Know Mobile GIS" and share insights from his Mobile GIS course at Harvard Extension. It will provide a concise overview of Mobile GIS capabilities, including Esri's native mobile apps and responsive web apps, and highlight emerging technologies like VR, AR, and AI in Mobile GIS. By incorporating Mobile GIS, educators can engage students, inspire spatial thinking, and enrich courses with hands-on, real-world applications that make learning more enjoyable.
