The Virginia Geospatial Semester is a 20-year-old spatial education project of James Madison University, enabling 25 High Schools across northern Virginia, including Washington-Liberty High School.
• Senior and junior students learn GIS through practical, hands-on experiences. This shapes their college and career paths, and positively impacts their lives, community, and the world.
• Be inspired by young students and their desire to create a sustainable world through shared understanding.
• The students employ project-based learning, using the latest GIS tools to explore and analyze current situations and learn how to develop solutions.
• The unique Geospatial Semester program goes beyond "following prescribed steps to learn content" to "designing strategies that build understanding and yield solutions”.
